Farewell Marlene

My amazing mother (aka. Marlene) has spent the past ten days helping me settle into my new place.
We’ve laughed at oddities (such as: man with the monkey), cried on the highway, shuddered at the grocery store ($7 for a box of cereal, seriously), and dodged falling coconuts. After observing the freaky fellas of South Beach, Marlene highly recommends that I go on a two year dating hiatus and stay at home with the door locked…most days. She’s always so good at doing the mom thing—and for that, I am grateful.

Quote of the Week:

"This is going to feel like a permanent vacation!" ~Me

"Yeah...until you run out of money and go hungry." ~Marlene…always focusing on the bright side.

Welcome to Miami Beach!

South Beach is a strange place.
I take that back. It’s really not if you’re keen on displaying your bits in stripper getup and habitually reek of crown and coke at two o'clock in the afternoon. I have a hunch that it's going to take nothing short of a miracle for this place to feel like home.

Highlights:

* Falling coconut that almost hit Marlene in the noggin

* Tommy, the 85 year old Italian who wanted to be my godfather, find me a sugar daddy, and take me dancing...at the mall.

* The fat, shirtless Jamaican spotted dancing on the beach...every night.

* My very first speedo sighting…don't worry, there will be many more.

* Marlene’s first drag show (as seen from Ocean Drive)…she didn’t want to leave.

It's been an adventure already!

Lana's Senior Portraits

I've known this girl since she was a wee lil' baby...now she's all grown up and gorgeous.

***This is my last post from the Big D.
The Miami posts start this weekend...and I'm already thinking, holy crap, where do I begin.

Concerning Text...

"Mark's friend's friend who is with us is super cute and totally your type...he might be gay though."

Wow. Not quite sure how to take that.
Thanks Amanda!

Chris & Nicole's Wedding Invitations

My beautiful friend Nicole, whom I've known since kindergarten, is tying the knot to her college sweetheart this fall and was so sweet to ask me to design their wedding invitations. Congratulations Nicole and Chris!

So...I'm Moving to Miami Beach

I can honestly say that Miami is the last place that I ever pictured myself moving to...however, the thought of running on the beach and listening to the sound of the waves come in (on a daily basis) makes it all OK.

After 4.5 years of designing greeting cards, I've decided to go back to school for fashion/editorial photography at Miami Ad School in Miami Beach, Florida.
