I do an amazing drunken zombie impression...(please see photo above)
(The following was written by: Miss Laura Lee)
About three weeks ago, Mary Beth's dear friend Kiley sent her an email with a link to a contest that Travelocity was sponsoring. “I know you and Laura Lee are really busy with the Raven project,” she wrote, “But this was made for you two.” The contest featured the Travelocity mascot, the gnome, and called for 1-minute video submissions illustrating why the gnome should “nab” you for an around-the-world trip valuing $65,000. At first, we were hesitant to participate, as we are both super busy with our current workload. Then we agreed, “Let’s devote one Sunday afternoon to concepting and see what we come up with.” I wrote an outline for a script, Mary Beth tinkered with it, we took an hour to film, an hour to edit it—and voila—our hats landed in the ring.
Today Travelocity announced our video has been selected as one of ten finalists. That means we have already won a $2000 travel credit, and we have a chance at the grand prize trip around the world. According to the contest rules, the decision will be based on two criteria: 49% public vote and 51% judges’ selection (judges come from the Travelocity marketing department).
You can watch the Travelocity call for entries as well as our submission, titled "Gnomemansland" here.
It should coax some chuckles. (Please don’t be scared off by the terrifying screen shot. We asked them to change the image, as Mary Beth looks like a drunken zombie, but they did not respond. Let’s just hope they focus on what we say and not how we look saying it.)
You can vote once a day for the next five days.
If you get a kick out of it and really want us to win, feel free to forward this link to your friends and family and ask for their support as well. No pressure at all from us—only gratitude to you. Oh, and the grand prize winners might star in a Travelocity commercial. Wouldn’t it be cool if our faces flashed across the television screen, and you’re like, “Oh, I know them.” (This is obviously enticing people who, like us, can barely afford TVs, let alone DVRs, and therefore still watch commercials.)

Big hugs from Miami,
Laura Lee & Mary Beth
