On a run back in June, Raven informed me that Mark Covert, the man who has maintained the longest running streak in the U.S. to date, was going to end his streak on July 23rd after 45 years, 16,436 days, and 149,652 streak miles.
Being the streak running groupie that I am, I decided to make the trek out to Lancaster, California to document Mark's last run. In doing so, I also had the opportunity to chat with the second longest streak runner, Jon Sutherland. Is it just me, or does this make anyone else giddy?
It's streak running gold out in California.

Running with Raven Update: Imagination & Golden Ray
Golden Ray (age 8) and Imagination (age 10) receive the "Event of the Year" certificate at the Raven Run Banquet for being the youngest to complete the eight mile run and swim. Not only are these boys stellar athletes, they give some pretty amazing life advice.

“We wanted an intimate ceremony and someone who knew us, not just a stranger with authority,” explained Extra. “We thought Raven would be perfect. He’s someone we know and love and trust.”
“He’s a friend,” added Molder. “We wanted a friend to marry us.”

In all seriousness, we are delighted with what we have raised so far but humbled by the amount we still need.
Please support the Raven's project today and become an official "backer."
Together, we can make this Big Idea happen.
Many thanks to Ronnie from South Beach Club for putting up with our antics while filming this update.

The Unstoppable Man: Robert Raven Kraft
For the past 36 years, Robert Raven Kraft has run eight miles on the sands of South Beach, without missing a day. "Not Rain, Lightening, Hurricanes, nor Injuries have kept him away." -RavenRun.net
In the past month, Raven has been experiencing chest pains and shortness of breath. Because of a long history of heart disease in his family, Kraft had to schedule a procedure that could've ended his 36 year running streak.
The doctors performed an angiogram from the wrist and found no blockage in his arteries. When Raven was waiting to be released, he managed to sneak in some mileage running down the halls of the hospital. He was later dropped off at the beach where he completed the full eight for the day.
Raven was kind enough to allow me to document it all.

Raven ran at midnight, securing his run for Friday, Sept. 23, 2011.
