Velkommen to Norway

I arrived in Oslo Thursday afternoon and am still awaiting my first troll sighting. You know, the dumpy men that hide under bridges and steal children. All of the living specimens that I’ve seen thus far are tall, blond, and gorgeous. If things continue this way, I’m going to dress like a troll and steal one for myself. Preferably one that is single, male, and 32+.

Norway is similar to Narnia.
The views are breathtaking, people greet you by saying, “Hei Hei”, it’s light outside...pretty much all of the time, and if something half-human half-horse ran through the forest, it wouldn’t surprise me in the slightest.

This is going to be an awesome two months.

Walking Marina

My buddy D. R. Hildebrand is a writer and a model based in New York City.
We met through a mutual friend...and have kept in touch ever since. He just recently released his first novel, Walking Marina, and I’m so excited to be able to share it with you all.

Walking Marina is one of the first books ever written by a model about the male modeling industry.
Check out the trailer and his website and pass it on to your friends!

Here's a short excerpt from the book that summarizes the protagonist's journey.

He was a steelworker-turned-model. And he was as idealized as he was envied. The world saw him pretty and they assumed him complete. They saw him golden and plentiful if not the apex of attainment, and they wanted whatever he had—all that he was. But what did they know? What did any of them know except the dreams they needed? Beauty begets attention. Beauty attracts love. Beauty is power and predictability and joy and the gloss behind which purity lies. Beauty is the answer, the end, the savior to which everything essential must fly. Beauty is boundless. Beauty is decisive. Beauty is one.

He was a model. And the world had its assumptions.

My Awesome Grandma

My parents and I are in Ohio for the week visiting family.
Earlier this evening, I decided to kidnap Grandma for an impromptu photo shoot with her awesome pheasant hat. My Grandfather was a big hunter back in the day, so Grandma put those feathers to good use! I hope I look this sexy at 90.

Jumbo's...The Best Restaurant in Miami

I was out photographing in Little Haiti with two of my friends when we decided to grab a bite to eat. We drove around for a short while before stumbling upon the local gem...Jumbo's. The cook was standing on the side of the building in front of a sign that read, "Best Fried Chicken in South Florida says New Times." I looked at both Kelly and Alison and said, "Pull over, this is going to be amazing...I can already tell."

We were welcomed into the restaurant by Bobby...the owner himself, who then told us all about the history of Jumbo's (see video below). Amazing waiters, food, and service followed...not to mention the fresh mangoes that the co-owner bagged up for us on our way out. He has a mango tree in his backyard...jealous. For those of you who live in Miami and/or are going to be visiting...take the time to pop over to Jumbo's. It's amazing.

The Best Birthday Message Ever...

Before I moved to the UK in 2008, I spent a few months back at home waiting on my visa.
To fill my days, I worked as a teacher's aide for my dear friend Mary's special ed class. One of my very favorite students, Ariel, left this message for me two years ago...
It still makes me smile to this day.
